Chapter 7
The 6 elders of the fire land were having a round fire discussion
They have never received a visitor from the top world in that manner, and style.
Fireboy was being held in a prison, still unconscious from his deep dive.
He had caused tension within the fire people
Some asking if there would be an invasion soon,
Some already preparing for war,
Some were on the side of him being lost and meant no harm.
The elders couldn’t take any risk, so Fireboy was sent to their maximum prison where his faith will be decided when he regains consciousness.
The only reason he was allowed to stand trial was because of his fire ability which was witnessed by the fire people.
The moment Fireboy woke up,
Word had been sent to the elders and an emergency meeting was being held followed by an emergency trial to decide the strangers faith.
Fireboy was still trying to observe his environment and make sense of where he was before the lock on his cell clicked and two fire warriors stepped in.
They spoke in a foreign language but he could understand
He couldn’t speak back but he could understand.
The guards wanted him to go into a robe of fire which they had created on entering his cell
The robe of fire serves as a cage in transporting criminals
On entering the robe Fireboy could feel his powers fading out but not completely
He tried to communicate with the guards after picking few words
They understood what he was saying but didn't reply to his request of knowing where he was being taken to
Finally they arrived before the fire elders
Fireboy was ushered into the premises with the aid of the guards who didn't leave his side throughout their journey
The elders understood many languages especially pidgin
The trial was set to hold using pidgin
Elder 1: wetin be your name
Fireboy replied, my name is Fireboy son of Ibosa
Elder 2: who be Your father and wetin be him handiwork
Fireboy replied, my father sells laptops for a living
The elders looked around confused to what he meant by laptops
Elder 2: wetin be laptop ?
Elder 3: na weapon?
Fireboy replied: No, laptops are not weapons
He then drew a caricature of what a laptop looks like on the rock he was standing on
Elder 4: impossible!!!
The elders began to murmur
Elder 3: wetin be your father name again?
Fireboy replied: Ibosa
Now the elders all looked like they've heard the name before
The elders decided to take a break and were now in full discussion to know if Fireboy was saying the truth,
Fireboy was taking to the waiting room by the guards and will wait until the elders are done
Few minutes have passed and the elders had come to a conclusion
The fire people don't hesitate with their trials
Fireboy was brought back to the presence of the elders to determine his fate
Elder 5: your papa na one of us
Fireboy looked at the elders
Not clear if he heard them clearly
His father couldn't go close to a camp fire talk less of lava
Then the elders rose up and formed a fire presentation
Showing Ibosa the great scientist who invented most of the weapons they currently use
That is my father
Fireboy said
The elders looked at him and ordered the robe around him to be taken off
Immediately
Fireboy could feel his powers come back to him
His legs turned into lava
He synced with the fireplace like he was born there
Elder 6: where your father dey?
Fireboy had forgotten about the virus for a minute
He kept silent for a while
Elder 6: you hear me so, where your father dey?
Fireboy looked up with rage in his eyes
And replied
I don't know
The elders looked at him with concern
They could feel his rage boiling up in him
They knew something was wrong
Elder 1: case dismissed
We go call you tomorrow for more information
The guards tapped Fireboy and showed him the way out while accompanying him to a location meant to be for his father
No one had been there since his father left
The place looked like a bigger and more spacious version of his father's house in the top world
The guards finally left him and allowed him settle in on his own
