Chapter 5

Some minutes have passed and the police officers on patrol began to gain consciousness of their environment

They had not fully recovered before they got swamped by the virus

Turning them into alternate beings on the spot

Next scene…

I began to wake up slowly

Still had a blurry sight and hoping all that happened earlier was a dream

I Looked around and I was in a different room

Surrounded by more people including the captain and bika

Time to wake up

Said bika

I couldn't feel any pain anymore and my stomach patch was gone

Looking up again

I saw the captain

He asked for my hand and pulled me out of bed

Let's take a walk
He said

I couldn't say no to the man that shot me

He laughed and said to me

Keep all your questions for later, now, I give you a tour of our wonderful camp

I looked at him and sighed loud

Letting go of my curiosity and questions

Now i had anxiety building up in me, I wanted to see what the camp was All about

Part of me liked the environment even before the tour had begun

The captain turned again and looked at my hair

Our first stop is going to be the barber

I didn't know why I would need a shave at that moment but ok

I followed him without asking why

The barber was close by

His tent could not be missed

He had stylish speakers outside and mirrors inside

It was like converting a club into a barbing salon

I went into the salon and on staring at myself at the mirror

I gave out a loud laugh

I had added extra weight and my hair was longer and it had begin to loc

I never thought my hair would ever grow into locs

The barber had been observing me

He called out to me with a strange name

Lion boy

Without hesitating
I answered like that was my name

He didn't wait for me to tell him that wasn't my name before he went on to ask

If I had any style in mind

I looked at the mirror again and told him

Give me a lions look

He laughed and offered me a seat

He began by burning his scissors afterwards burning the already rolled up weed he had kept hanging on his ear

I didn't want to spoil the fun so I closed my eyes and let him do his thing

I could hear him dance all through the period of cutting my hair

Finnaaly he gave the word

Voila!!!

I opened my eyes immediately, staring at myself on the mirror

I was looking more fierce and my locs were more intentional and heavy

He knew what I had pictured in my head

I couldn't believe it

He kept dancing and laughing

The captain signalled him and he told me

Time to go Lion boy

Come back again when you need a fix

I liked my new look

The captain could see it from my brightened face

We both hopped onto his quad bike and we continued the tour

We visited the cloth store and many other places

I was looking like a music soldier now

It was few minutes to noon

And we could see people gathering at the gate
Apparently the horn was been blown

It was a sign indicating the presence of incoming vehicles

The captain rode to the gate alongside other music soldiers waiting to see who was approaching

The rodrats had made it back from scouting

It was the same car the captain joined when we were ambushed by the virus

They were let into the camp and were ushered in with applause and screams

They were like heroes to their peers

The captain signalled the first truck
Waving at them from his position

Immediately the two truck began approaching us

I could feel a sense of rage in me

The memories began to flash back and I could see myself being dragged by the twin into their vehicle on that faithful day

They finally got to our position

Isabel and shomolu were the first to get down

After saluting the captain

They both looked at me and smiled

I didn't smile back

Rather all the questions I had, reserved in my head, began to come back and I wanted to ask everything at once

Next was the twin
Who were still dressed in police attires

Coming down it was obvious they were not any way close to being police officers

I couldn't stop the outburst when I yelled at the twin

You killed the officers and put on their uniform yeah?

The twin looked at me and burst out into laughter

I wanted to take on them but who was I kidding

Just one of them will beat the living out of me

Fortunately for me

The captain waved at them to stop teasing me and told me to calm down
